A warm welcome to you all and a little insight into the ideas and projects that keep us on our toes here at Country Curtains.

I am going to quote you a few lines from a British textile designer, poet, novelist and social activist of the 1800’s which are as relevant today as they were when written.

“History has remembered the Kings and Warriors because they destroyed; art has remembered the people, because they created”

“The true secret to happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life”

“Have nothing in your house that you do not believe to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”

“There is no excuse for doing anything which is not strikingly beautiful”

These were all words written by William Morris; his textile designs are as popular today as they were during the time. He believed we should strive to have lovely spaces in which to live. The lockdown certainly left time for a lot of us to see where improvements could be made in our homes and our lives.
